Many people use short stay airport parking either for work or just general travelling purposes and many airports in the UK are taking advantage by charging them extra amount. Birmingham airport parking has one of the most expensive short stay parking space in the UK. Recent research shows that the newly opened short stay parking in Birmingham is expensive than Manchester and Heathrow even though Heathrow is one of the busiest airport. So why is Birmingham airport short stay charging an extra amount? I bet it wants to be one of the most expensive short stay parking of the World?
Here is the cost comparison between Manchester, Heathrow and Birmingham short stay parking facilities.
To park in a short stay Heathrow airport parking will cost you upto 8 quid for half an hour.
To park in a short stay Manchester airport parking will cost you upto 8 quid for half an hour.
To park in a short stay Birmingham airport parking the price will come upto 20 pounds in 40 minutes. First half an hour costs £10 and thereafter the car park charges £5 for every 5 minutes. Its a rip off. The worst scenario would be when receiving someone and to find out that their flight is late by 60 minutes. When you calculate that it will come upto 70 pounds in total WOW!. In that £70 I can get a cheap return ticket to Spain, Italy or Holland from low cost airlines. No wonder this car park is empty these days as shown in the video in the post.
The airport parking facility should be very friendly for people because this can be a time of joy for people. People use the short stay parking to either drop or receive their friends and family. Just imagine a person receiving her/his parents in Birmingham airport whom she/he hasn’t seen for years. He/she will have a lovely smile after meeting their parents and as soon as it’s time to pay for the car park the smile would be wiped out of their faces when they see the bill of 20 pounds for few minutes of parking.
